Senior Planning Analyst

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) at Arizona State University is seeking a Senior Planning Analyst to perform advanced work supporting the needs of the Fulton School’s Dean’s level administrative team. Under the direction of the Planning Analyst Principal, performs work of considerable difficulty in supporting research development, strategic planning, enrollment management, academic program planning, and management analysis processes. Collaborates with other analysts on the data team and stakeholders throughout The Fulton Schools in the preparation and completion of complex assessment plans, information requests, program outcomes, performance indicators, and assembles data relative to the trends and issues of strategic value to FSE.


Essential Duties:

  • Using a variety of reporting tools/statistical programs regularly works with large data sets to provide ad hoc and routine reports. May work with both quantitative and qualitative data. Responsible for data validation with source systems to ensure accuracy and consistent reporting.

  • Support overall data management, data quality, and information needs for key decision-makers and FSE stakeholders (e.g., recruitment/retention data; student and class reporting; research reports; reporting in WorkDay; financial planning reports; budget reports; human resources reporting; Salesforce, etc.)

  • Provides data and analysis for assessment of programs and initiatives led by ASA

  • Assists with the completion of institutional surveys, reports, and other data requests from external entities; represents FSE with national assessment organizations such as ASEE, ABET, and US News & World Report.

  • Creates reports and data products using a variety of data query and visualizations tools such as DBeaver, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS-Report Builder), Hyperion Studio, Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, and other BI tools.

  • Designs and develops predictive models that support enrollment, academic, and financial planning efforts, and decision-making.

  • Explains analyses, plans, or analytical reports and dashboards to senior administrators; ascertains requirements for further data or analysis by asking appropriate questions to understand context.

  • Selects, and/or recommends appropriate research design methodologies, data analyses, and statistical procedures; may determine appropriate methodology to be used for projects.

  • Collaborates with team members, communicates with internal and external constituencies, and participates in user groups and professional organizations to stay up to date with new data sources and tools.

The successful candidate will be highly skilled in various data extraction, data reporting, predictive analytics and data visualization approaches. They will also be expected to extend these approaches to the overall development of institutional effectiveness and efficiency in querying, analyzing, and presenting institutional data in an inviting way to a broad audience. Specific activities involve developing descriptive statistical reports related to enrollment, student success and other areas of Pima Community College’s operations, in support of the mission of the College. This position will be hybrid with remote work opportunities available.

Research Project Manager

The Office Strategy, Analytics and Research (StAR) is seeking a Research Project Manager to play an essential role in facilitating college-wide data-informed decision making. The Research Project Manager will be primarily responsible for capturing data from the College’s Business Intelligence (BI) or the enterprise system, creating reports and visualizations using SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence (WebI) or other appropriate tools. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in various data extraction, data reporting, and data visualization approaches. They will also be expected to extend these approaches to the overall development of institutional effectiveness and efficiency in querying, analyzing, and presenting institutional data in an inviting way to a broad audience. Specific activities involve developing descriptive statistical reports related to enrollment, student success and other areas of Pima Community College’s operations, in support of the mission of the College.
